1/35 Polish Cavalrymen (Uhlans) Figure Set
IBG 1/35 Polish Cavalrymen (Uhlans) is a 1/35th scale plastic set of Polish cavalrymen from the beginning of WWII. The Polish cavalry, known as Uhlans, were a symbol of tradition and courage when they faced the German invasion in 1939. The set includes detailed figures of cavalrymen with typical armour and equipment, suitable for creating realistic scenes and dioramas.
The Polish cavalry, known as ulani, continued a long tradition of cavalry units dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. Although the role of the cavalry gradually changed in the interwar period, the ulani remained an important part of the Polish army, and in 1939 formed approximately ten brigades. They were armed not only with conventional sabres and spears, but also with modern infantry weaponry including rifles and light machine guns, making them a versatile mobile unit.
During the German invasion in September 1939, the Polish cavalrymen bravely joined the fighting, often acting as a rapidly redeployable force designed for reconnaissance, covering retreats and surprise attacks. Despite later myths of 'sabre attacks against tanks', the Uhlans proved disciplined and well-trained soldiers who used their horses primarily to move quickly and fought mostly dismounted.
IBG's 1/35th scale figure set provides a realistic representation of the Polish cavalrymen of 1939. The figures are rendered in dynamic poses and complete with authentic armour and equipment, including typical helmets, saddle gear and weapons.
