The M36 Jackson was an American tank destroyer developed during World War II in response to the increasing armour of German tanks, particularly the Panther and Tiger types. Armed with the powerful 90mm M3 gun, which was capable of penetrating the armour of heavy enemy vehicles at combat distances, the M36 represented a significant advance over earlier tank fighters such as the M10 Wolverine. It entered service in 1944 and took part in the fighting on the Western Front during the final phase of the war in Europe. Its firepower and relatively good mobility made it one of the most effective American anti-tank assets of the late phase of the war. After the war, the M36 served in the armies of a number of countries and took part in other conflicts, including the Korean War.
Ammunition logistics was part of the daily operations of the tank fighters. The 90mm caliber artillery shells were transported in protective cardboard tubes that protected the sensitive shells from damage, moisture and dirt during transport. These tubes were a common part of supply operations and were often found at artillery positions, near vehicles, or in ammunition depots. For the modeller, they are an authentic addition that allows a more realistic scene to be created - whether it is a vehicle being prepared a vehicle ready for battle with ammunition ready, a supply operation, or a diorama depicting a crew resting with equipment visible.
The CMK kit includes six resin castings of cardboard transport tubs in 1:35 scale, which matches the standard size and shape of actual tubs used by the US Army. The resin allows for fine surface detail including cardboard texture, labels and caps. Tubes can be placed loose on the base of the diorama, loaded onto a vehicle, or spread around the crew as part of a field scene. Due to the versatility of the accessory, it can be used not only on the M36 Jackson, but also on other American vehicles equipped with the 90mm cannon or in general scenes with period 2 artillery ammunition logistics. World War II and post-war conflicts.
Painting is simple: the basic tone corresponds to natural cardboard (beige to light brown), with the possibility of increasingwith the option of adding labels in black or dark blue and adding traces of wear, dust or moisture depending on the chosen environment. The package does not include the paints or adhesives needed for assembly.
