1/35 Kugelblitz Flak Panzer IV (MK103 Doppelflak 30mm) - Border Model
Border Model 1/35 Kugelblitz Flak Panzer IV (MK103 Doppelflak 30mm) is a model of an experimental self-propelled anti-aircraft gun built on the chassis of a Panzer IV tank. This unique vehicle was armed with a pair of 30mm MK103 cannons in a fully enclosed spherical turret. The kit does not include the paints or adhesives needed for assembly.
The Kugelblitz was one of the most interesting prototypes of German self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicles developed toward the end of World War II. The design was based on the proven chassis of the Panzer IV tank, onto which a special spherical turret mounting a pair of 30mm MK103 cannons was installed. Thanks to its fully enclosed turret, it provided the crew with better protection than earlier open-top Flakpanzer models, such as the Wirbelwind or Ostwind.
Its armament, consisting of rapid-firing MK103 cannons, was effective against both low-flying Allied aircraft and lightly armored ground targets. However, the Kugelblitz remained only in the prototype and limited trial production stages; it saw only limited combat action and could no longer influence the course of the war. Nevertheless, it remains one of the most impressive examples of German efforts to modernize the air defense of armored units.
The Border Model 1/35 scale kit offers a detailed representation of this unique prototype. The model is precision-crafted, with finely engraved surface details and realistic structural elements, making it an ideal foundation for creating an attractive collector’s piece or diorama.
The package does not include the paints or adhesives needed for assembly.
