The Mitsubishi A6M Zero was a light carrier-based fighter aircraft that served in the Imperial Japanese Navy from 1940 until the end of World War II. At the start of the war, the “Zero” was considered the best carrier-based fighter in the world. Thanks to its exceptional maneuverability, long range, and powerful armament, it earned a reputation as an invincible machine. The A6M2 Model 21 was the first mass-produced variant and featured folding wingtips, which allowed for safer operations from aircraft carriers. This version became a symbol of Japanese air superiority in the early stages of the Pacific War.

The A6M2 gained fame on December 7, 1941, during the attack on Pearl Harbor, where its speed and maneuverability took American defenders by surprise.
