1/32 MESSERSCHMITT BF 109 G-4

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-4 represented an important step in the development of the famous Luftwaffe fighter that formed the backbone of the German fighter force throughout World War II. The G ("Gustav") version built on the previous F-series and introduced a number of design improvements - most notably a strengthened landing gear, a new pressurized cockpit and improved avionics. The G-4 type was powered by a twelve-cylinder liquid-cooled Daimler-Benz DB 605A engine, which allowed speeds of up to 640 km/h and a...a high climb rate, making it a serious competitor to all Allied fighters of the time.

The aircraft was deployed on both the Eastern and Western fronts, in North Africa and over the Mediterranean. Luftwaffe pilots prized it for its strength in combat, high climb performance and durability. The G-4 became the basis for later variants that carried improved armament and more powerful engines.
