1/32 Kawasaki Ki-45 Kai Tei "Toryu"
Zoukei Mura SWS13 1/32 Kawasaki Ki-45 Kai Tei "Toryu" is a 1/32 scale plastic kit of Japanese WWII twin-engine heavy fighter aircraft. Known to the Allies as "Nick", this machine served in the Japanese Army as a night fighter, escort and ambush aircraft. The model offers exceptionally detailed construction, interior and engines based on the "Super Wing Series" concept.
The Kawasaki Ki-45 Kai Tei "Toryu" (translated as "Dragon Slayer") was a twin-engine heavy fighter aircraft that formed the backbone of the Japanese Army Air Force in the second half of World War II. It was developed in the early 1940s in response to the need for a powerful, long-range, heavily armed fighter aircraft. The design of the Ki-45 combined a rugged fuselage with twin Nakajima Ha-102 engines and sleek aerodynamic lines that allowed the machine to reach speeds of around 540 km/h (540 mph).
The Ki-45 Kai Tei version was developed as a night fighter to defend the Japanese islands against Allied B-29 bombers. It was armed with a 37mm gun mounted in the nose, supplemented by a pair of machine guns in the fuselage and a defensive machine gun in the rear of the cabin. The Tory aircraft operated primarily in night raiding units, where they achieved a number of successes despite facing more modern adversaries. Its balanced design and durability made the Ki-45 one of the Japanese Army's most successful twin-engined fighters.
The 1/32 scale Zoukei Mura "Super Wing Series" kit offers exceptionally accurate rendering of the aircraft's internal structure, engines, cockpit and weapons systems. The model includes realistically rendered panels, interior with detailed instruments, structural bracing and landing gear shafts. The technical sophistication and authenticity of detail make the Ki-45 Kai Tei an ideal choice for experienced modelers and enthusiasts of Japanese WWII aviation.
The package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
