1/16 Sd.Kfz. 250/3 Ausf. A
Brand: Das Werk

The Sd.Kfz. 250 was a light semi-axial armoured personnel carrier developed on the basis of experience from the fighting at the beginning of the 2nd. World War II, when the Wehrmacht needed a fast and protected vehicle for smaller units and special tasks. It was developed as a scaled-down version of the successful Sd.Kfz. 251 and was built on the chassis of the Demag D7 light tractor. Its compact size and good off-road mobility quickly made it a popular machine for reconnaissance units, command staffs, liaison platoons and other specialized roles. The Sd.Kfz. 250/3 was equipped with extensive radio equipment and served as a command vehicle for coordinating units in the field - typically for company, battalion or higherwho needed reliable communication with subordinate and superior units.

Ausführung A (Ausf. A) refers to an early production variant with the characteristic angular armour plates, which consisted of straight plates welded into a slash form. This design was typical of the first generation Sd.Kfz. 250 and 251 half-track vehicles and provided basic protection against shrapnel and light weapons. The engine was located in the front, the crew had an open fighting compartment in the rear with the possibility of covering it with a tarpaulin, and the interior was equipped with radio stations, map tables and other command equipment. The vehicle was deployed on all fronts - from the deserts of North Africa to the steppes of the Eastern Front to Western Europe.

The 1:16 scale Das Werk kit is one of the most detailed models of this type on the market. It offers a complete interior including a detailed engine that can be exposed thanks to the functional engine compartment cover plates. The chassis features functional tracks and a faithfully reproduced suspension with torsion bars matching the original design. Inside you will find detailed radio equipment, seats, controls and other features typical of the commander variant. Also included are figures of the driver and Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, allowing you to create a scene associated with his command in North Africa.

The pack contains five marking variants:

- Kampfstaffel Oberbefehlshaber Pz.Armee Afrika "Greif" - Tobruk, Libya, June 1942
- Kampfstaffel Oberbefehlshaber Pz.Armee Afrika "Adler" - Libya, May 1942
- Kampfstaffel Oberbefehlshaber Pz.Armee Afrika (Hauptmann Kiehl) "Igel" - El Alamein, Egypt, June 1942
- 23rd Panzer-Division (23.Pz.Div.) - Southern Russia, summer 1942
- 24th Panzer-Division (24th Pz.Div.) - southern Russia, summer 1942

These variants cover two key battle areas - the North African campaign under Rommel's command and operations on the southern flank of the Eastern Front. The modeller can thus choose a desert camouflage with typical sand and sun wear, or a summer scheme for the eastern front with dust and mud. The 1:16 scale allows for precise detail work, weathering and figures, making the kit suitable for advanced modelers and as a display piece or the basis for a diorama. The package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
