Tamiya 61099 Fairey Swordfish Mk.II

Tamiya 61099 Fairey Swordfish Mk.II in 1/48 scale depicts the legendary British biplane torpedo bomber, which despite its obsolete design played a key role during World War II. The Swordfish, nicknamed the "Stringbag" for its versatility and ability to carry a wide range ofarmament, it was deployed for torpedo attacks, reconnaissance, mining and anti-submarine operations. Its most famous operations included a night attack on the Italian fleet in Tarent Harbor in 1940 and a major role in the sinking of the German battleship Bismarck in 1941.

The Mk.II version had a reinforced design to allow it to carry unguided missiles, which increased its effectiveness against submarines and smaller ships. Swordfish operated not only from aircraft carriers but also from land bases throughout the war, and despite their slow pace and vulnerability, they proved to be very durable and effective aircraft.
