The North American F-86 Sabre was one of the most important jet fighters of the first generation. The F-86A was the first mass-produced variant and played a key role during the early stages of the Korean War, where it clashed with adversaries such as the MiG-15. The aircraft featured an aerodynamic arrow-wing design, high maneuverability, and a powerful armament of six .50-caliber machine guns.
The F-86A participated in the first jet dogfights in aviation history, and its pilots, often seasoned World War II veterans, scored numerous kills during aerial dogfights over the Korean Peninsula. The Sabre thus became a symbol of American air superiority in that conflict.
