The Lockheed PV-1 Ventura was a twin-engine patrol bomber and maritime reconnaissance aircraft based on the Lockheed Model 18 Lodestar. The US Navy began using it in 1942 as a replacement for the obsolete PBO Hudsons.
The PV-1 was equipped with more powerful armament, a larger bomb load and an improvedradars, which allowed it to operate effectively in anti-submarine missions, ocean patrols and attacks against land targets. He served primarily in the Pacific and Atlantic, escorting convoys and searching for enemy vessels.
The Academy 1/72 USN PV-1 "Patrol Bomber" kit features precision crafted plastic parts, detailed cockpit and interior fittings, a rotating gun turret and realistic suspended weapons. The model includes authentic decals for various US Navy units from the WWII era.
The high level of detail and historical accuracy make this model ideal for modelers interested in naval aviation and WWII patrol aircraft.
