1/72 Spitfire PR.IV - KPM0500 Kovozávody
Spitfire PR.IV in 1/72 scale by Kovozávod Prostějov is a reconnaissance version of the famous British WWII fighter aircraft, modified for high-altitude and long-range photographic reconnaissance. The package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
The Supermarine Spitfire PR.IV was one of the first dedicated reconnaissance versions of the legendary British Spitfire fighter. This variant was based on a combination of several older Spitfire types, notably the Mk.I and Mk.II, and was modified for photographic reconnaissance purposes - without armament, with larger fuel tanks and powerful cameras mounted in the fuselage. The aircraft had a smooth surface, adapted to high altitude flight, and was often painted with a distinctive blue or pink paint, designed for camouflage according to light conditions.
The Spitfire PR.IV played an important role in intelligence flights over occupied Europe. It was capable of operating deep behind enemy lines and gaining valuable information on military targets, troop movements and industrial infrastructure. It was thanks to these aircraft that the British command often had detailed photographs of key areas and installations that were important for planning strategic raids and operations.
Kovozávod Prostějov's KPM0500 kit provides a detailed 1/72 scale model of this reconnaissance variant. It includes fine negative engraving, a cleanly executed fuselage without armament, a realistically shaped cockpit and a set of decals for several machines that took part in operations over different areas of Europe. This model will delight not only Spitfire fans, but also those interested in less common versions of the famous WWII aircraft.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
