The Pilatus PC-9/A is an Australian variant of the Swiss Pilatus PC-9 trainer, produced since the 1980s. The aircraft combines excellent manoeuvrability, reliability and low operating costs, making it popular with many air forces around the world. The PC-9/A version was specifically modified for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and entered service in 1987. It served primarily with the No. 2 Flying Training School unit and the famous Roulettes aerobatic team.

Australian PC-9/As feature specific avionics and equipment to meet RAAF requirements. The aircraft have been used for jet pilot training, direct air support simulation and as target practice.
