The ORO-57K missile was the standard suspension weapon used by the Soviet Air Force in the 1950s and 1960s. Designed to launch 57 mm calibre S-5 unguided rockets, it was used to destroy ground targetsand supported fighter and attack aircraft in attacks on columns, trenches or lightly protected objects. This type of armament was widely used on aircraft such as the MiG-15bis/Sh, MiG-17AS, MiG-19S and P, early versions of the MiG-21 (F, F-13, PF), and also on the Su-7 series (B, BMK, BKL).
The 1/72 scale kit from Ukrainian manufacturer Clear Prop contains precision cast resin parts for the assembly of two ORO-57K missile launchers. It features fine surface detail, faithful shape and clean workmanship. It is an ideal extension for models of the Soviet jets that used this armament, and will make a great addition to both dioramas and stand-alone models. Due to the high level of workmanship, it is intended especially for more experienced modellers.
