1/72 JRF Goose

Brand: Sword

The Grumman JRF Goose was an American amphibious (amphibious) aircraft of the late 1930s, designed to operate from water and conventional airfields. It served in the US armed forces and in civilian service as a communications and transport machine, and its rugged design made it suitable for the harsh conditions of coastal areas and islands. The 1/72 scale Sword Model SW72156 kit is a new version with a new frame of clear parts and added details, and includes decals for 4 marking variations and new masks included.

The Grumman JRF Goose is an American twin-engine amphibious aircraft that first flew in the late 1930s and became one of the typical "work" machines for transporting people and cargo over shorter distances. The design is a flying boat with a hull shaped for landing on water, complete with retractable landing gear for operation from land. This allowed it to operate from harbours, bays, lakes and conventional airfields, making it a very versatile type for areas with limited infrastructure.

The Goose was used both in civilian operations (for example, as a corporate and liner transport aircraft for coastal and island areas) and in military service. In the U.S. armed forces, it was used primarily for communications duties, transporting personneland material, patrol and rescue, and generally for tasks where the ability to land on the water was an advantage. The type is particularly associated with the maritime environment and with operations in coastal regions where the combination of twin-engine configuration and amphibious capability increased both safety and usability.

From a modeller's perspective, the JRF Goose is of interest mainly because of the characteristic fuselage-ship shape, the transition of the fuselage to the wing engine nacelles and the overall "nautical" appearance, which fits well in dioramas with water surface, piers or coastal terrain. The cabin glazing and fuselage windows are also a distinctive feature, and they make a big difference to the overall impression of the finished model.

The Sword Model SW72156 JRF Goose kit is released as a new version, featuring a new frame of clear parts and added detail. Included are decals for the 4 marking variations as well as new masks for the glazing. The package does not include paint or glue.
