1/72 Heinkel He111 H-6 - Airfix (A07007C)

The Heinkel He 111, one of the most famous aircraft of the German Luftwaffe during the Second World War, has a fascinating and surprisingly dual origin. Its development began in the mid-1930s under the guise of a civilian transport and mail aircraft for Lufthansa, in keeping with post-World War I restrictions. However, its real purpose from the start was military, to provide the then nascent Luftwaffe with a modern medium bomber. With its sleek elliptical wings and distinctive glazed 'greenhouse' nose, it became one of the most recognisable bombers of the conflict.

The He 111 H-6 version was the most produced variant and served on all fronts where the Luftwaffe was engaged. It was powered by two Junkers Jumo 211 engines and featured greatly enhanced defensive armament. In addition to bombing missions, the He 111 H-6 was frequently used as a torpedo bomber, mine-laying aircraft and reconnaissance machine, demonstrating its exceptional versatility. Despite its gradual obsolescence, it remained in service until the end of the war, primarily due to the failure of German programs to develop new bombers.

This model from Airfix is a faithful replica of the Heinkel He 111 H-6 in 1:72 scale. The kit consists of 180 parts, which allow to build a very detailed model. Modelers will appreciate the precise paneling, detailed cockpit interior and the choice of three different markings to represent machines serving on different fronts of the war. The assembled model measures 22.6 cm in length and has a wingspan of 31.2 cm.

The kit does not contain paint or glue. These necessary accessories must be purchased separately.
