1/72 A-20G Havoc ‘Over Europe and Pacific’

The American Douglas A-20 Havoc, known in British service as the Boston, was one of the most versatile twin-engine fighter aircraft of World War II. It was deployed on most battlefields, with particular success in the Pacific theatre. The A-20G variant was designed as a heavily armed fighter-bomber, equipped with large-caliber machine guns in the full nose and a gun turret with twin machine guns in the rear hemisphere. This combination of armament was ideal for direct attacks on ground targets, often carried out from very low altitude, supplemented by the dropping of bombs.

In the Pacific, A-20Gs were deployed not only by the US Air Force, but also by the Australian RAAF, whose Bostons became famous for their so-called "bomber tea parties". The aircraft often carried distinctive nose art, including motifs inspired by Albert Vargas illustrations or aggressive animal muzzles. In European airspace, A-20Gs operated primarily from British and Italian bases as tactical bombers, usually in large formations led by A-20K versions with glass noses and Norden sights. After the Normandy landings, these machines were also deployed from French airfields, with one of the machines offered carrying invasion stripes and distinctive nose art.

The Special Hobby kit contains detailed A-20G parts divided into five frames of grey plastic and one frame of clear parts. It offers interesting camouflage options and the possibility of further enhancement with available masks, resin details or figures. The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
