Meng 1/48 U.S. Long/Medium-range Air-to-air Missiles is a 1/48 scale set containing detailed U.S. medium and long range air-to-air missiles. These weapons form the basic armament of modern fighter and multi-role aircraft, which use them to destroy adversaries at long ranges. The set allows you to add realistic armament to the models and increase their authenticity.
Medium- and long-range air-to-air missiles became a key part of the armament of American aircraft during the Cold War and in modern conflicts. From the semi-actively guided AIM-7 Sparrow to the modern actively guided AIM-120 AMRAAM, they provide pilots with the ability to destroy airbornetargets out of visual range, greatly increasing the combat range and safety of their own aircraft. These weapons have been deployed in operations ranging from the Vietnam War to recent NATO missions.
The 1/48th scale Meng add-on kit features carefully modelled missiles of this type with finely executed details of the guidance heads, ailerons and nozzles. Their versatile design makes them suitable for a wide range of US fighter aircraft, from the older F-4 Phantom II and F-14 Tomcat, to the F-15 Eagle, F-16 Fighting Falcon and F/A-18 Hornet. The parts allow the models to be realistically equipped in both static and combat configurations, thus increasing their believability.
