1/48 U.S. Air Force A-12 Avenger II
Modelcollect 1/48 U.S. Air Force A-12 Avenger II is a 1/48th scale plastic kit depicting a hypothetical variant of the A-12 stealth attack aircraft, this time in U.S. Air Force colors. The Avenger II project was originally intended exclusively for the US Navy, but was never completed - so this version represents a purely fictional "what if" interpretation.
The A-12 Avenger II project originated in the 1980s as a planned replacement for the A-6 Intruder airborne attack aircraft. The aircraft was to use stealth technology, have a "flying wing" shape, and carry armament in an internalwhich would allow it to attack heavily protected targets even in a modern air defence environment. However, due to technical problems and mounting costs, the program was cancelled in 1991 without any of the prototypes getting airborne.
The 1/48th scale Modelcollect kit depicts an interesting "what if" scenario where the A-12 Avenger II would have entered service with the United States Air Force (USAF). This fictional concept opens up the opportunity for modelers to create a unique machine in a non-standard paint job and markings that never appeared in reality.
The model features detailed fuselage, wing and landing gear detailing while retaining the distinctive Avenger II appearance. It is an ideal choice for anyone interested in prototypes, alternate history and "what if" themes in 1/48 scale.
The package does not include the paint or adhesives needed for assembly.
