1/48 Sepecat Jaguar GR.1/GR.1A speed brakes
Aires 1/48 Sepecat Jaguar GR.1/GR.1A speed brakes is a resin add-on designed for detailed 1/48 scale plastic kits of Sepecat Jaguar GR.1/GR.1A. The kit contains precision made speed brakes with finer surface detail and more accurate geometry than standard plastic parts. Suitable for advanced modelers who want to increase the realism of their model. Requires basic experience working with resin, resin-appropriate glue and sanding.
The Sepecat Jaguar was a British-French multirole combat aircraft developed in the 1960s. The British GR.1 (Ground Attack/Reconnaissance) version served in the Royal Air Force from 1973 as a replacement for older types designed for ground attack and reconnaissance. The upgraded GR.1A variant brought improved avionics and the ability to carry laser-guided weapons. The Jaguars proved their worth in a number of conflicts including the Falklands War and Operation Desert Storm, where they demonstrated reliability and accuracy in attacking ground targets.
Speed brakes were an important element in controlling the speed of the aircraft during descent and approach to the target. They are a visible functional detail on the model, which significantly influences the overall impression of the finished structure. The resin add-on from Aires replaces the standard plastic parts with a more precise design with a finer surface texture and more faithful geometry to the actual aircraft. Working with resin requires careful sanding of overflows, degreasing the parts before gluing and the use of a suitable adhesive (CA or epoxy). The result is greatly increased model fidelity.
