The Orličan L-40 Meta Sokol was designed in the second half of the 1950s by František Šmolík and produced in the Orličan Choceň factory. The aircraft first flew in 1959 and became a modern continuation of the tradition of Czechoslovak sport and tourist aircraft. Its all-metal construction, retractable tricycle landing gear and 140 hp M-332 engine allowed it to reach speeds of over 200 km/h, which was extraordinary for its time.

Thanks to its excellent flight characteristics and comfortable interior, the L-40 became a sought-after type abroad. Several were exported to Switzerland, where they were used by aero clubs and the private sector. The Swiss machines were characterized by distinctive markings with a white cross and typical red emblems, which the KPM model faithfully reproduces. These aircraft were among the most attractive foreign examples of the Czechoslovak design school.

The 1/48 scale KPM kit offers a detailed version of the Orlican L-40 Meta Sokol in its Swiss variant. The finely crafted surface details, realistic cabin interior and accurately shaped parts allow to create an authentic model with distinctive foreign markings. This model is an ideal choice for modellers interested in export versions of Czechoslovak aircraft.

The package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
