1/48 Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9. Mimetall Prod. Advanced Kit

The Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9, nicknamed "Dora", was one of the most powerful German fighter aircraft of the final phase of World War II. It was created in direct response to the Luftwaffe's need to counter Allied aircraft at high altitudes, where the original Fw 190 radial-engined air-to-air versions were losing their performance advantage. The designers therefore turned to the Junkers Jumo 213A inline engine with over 1,700 hp, which provided the aircraft with significantly improved altitude, speed and climb performance. The result was an aircraft that, in the hands of an experienced pilot, was a match for virtually anything the Allies were deploying at the time. The Fw 190D-9 was used, among other things, to protect the bases of Me 262 jets during takeoff and landing - at a time when these machines were at their most vulnerable.

Production of the "Dory" was carried out by several manufacturers, with the Mimetall plant's production having its own specific design and surface solutions that differed in detail from other production runs. It is this configuration that is the subject of the 1:48 scale MiniArt kit.

The kit in the Advanced Kit edition is intended for experienced modellers who appreciate the high level of detail and precision of the design. The cockpit is crafted with an emphasis on fidelity to the original, the surface of the fuselage and wings bears the characteristic panel articulation corresponding to the real aircraft. Included in the package are photo-etch parts for the finest details that plastic parts cannot fully capture, and decals allowing the model to be assembled in several different versions of the markings. The 1:48 scale is one of the most widely used for WW2 fighter aircraft - it offers plenty of room for detail work while the resulting model doesn't take up too much space. The package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
