1/72 Mirage IIIO
KPM 1/72 Mirage IIIO is a 1/72 scale model of the Australian version of the French supersonic fighter. The Mirage IIIO, licensed by Government Aircraft Factories, served in the Australian Air Force from the 1960s as the RAAF's main combat vehicle. The KPH edition kit includes decals, paint masks and 3D printed parts.
The Dassault Mirage III was the first European fighter aircraft capable of Mach 2 flight and became one of the most successful machines of the post-war era. Australia chose the type in the early 1960s when it was looking for a modern supersonic fighter and attack aircraft. It decided to license production to Government Aircraft Factories, which led to the Mirage IIIO version.
Australian Mirage aircraft were delivered in two basic variants - the overfighter (IIIO(F)) and the attack/bomber (IIIO(A)). The aircraft entered service in 1964 and gradually became the backbone of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). The Mirage IIIOs have been used both as fighters and in training and exercises as part of Australia's defence commitments. They remained in service until the mid-1980s, when they were gradually replaced by the American McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet.
The Mirage IIIO became a symbol of the modernisation of the Australian Air Force and contributed to its ability to perform collective defence and international cooperation tasks.
KPM's 1/72nd scale KPH edition offers the opportunity to build a detailed model of the Mirage IIIO with authentic shapes and equipment. Decals, paint masks and 3D printed parts are included to facilitate construction and enhance the final model.
The package does not include the paint or adhesives needed for assembly.
