1/48 SU-33 Flanker D

The Sukhoi Su-33 Flanker D was developed in the 1980s as an airborne variant of the famous Su-27 fighter. It is equipped with a reinforced structure, folding wings and tail surfaces, landing hook and reinforced landing gear in order to operate from the decks of Soviet aircraft carriers. The aircraft first entered service in 1995, and its primary operating location became the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier.

The Su-33 was capable of carrying a wide range of armament, including air-to-air missiles, bombs and unguidedmissiles, making it a multi-purpose machine suitable for fighter missions and strikes on ground targets. Despite the limited number of Su-33s produced, the Su-33 became a symbol of the Soviet Union's and later Russia's efforts to build its own airborne force. In modern times, the Su-33 has been deployed, for example, in Russian operations in Syria.
