1/32 Messerschmitt Me163B Komet Roket
Meng 1/32 Messerschmitt Me 163B Komet is a plastic kit of German WWII missile fighter aircraft. This revolutionary but problematic machine was the only operationally deployed missile aircraft in the world and was primarily used to defend against Allied bombers.
The Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet was one of the Luftwaffe's most daring projects and represented a breakthrough in aviation technology of its time. Development under Alexander Lippisch began before World War II, with the first prototypes flown at the start of the war and the Me 163B entering service in 1944. The aircraft was equipped with the Walter HWK 109-509 rocket engine, which enabled it to reach speeds of over 950 km/h, making it the fastest fighter of its era.
Its main mission was to quickly climb to the Allied bombing ranges and attack them with a pair of 30mm MK 108 guns. Although it had astonishing performance, its combat effectiveness was severely limited - short range, difficult handling of highly reactive fuel and complex operation made the Me 163 more of an experimental than a truly effective weapon. Nevertheless, it became an icon of both technical prowess and the desperate search for means to defend the Third Reich in the final years of the war.
Meng's 1/32 scale kit presents a detailed model of this unique design. It features a realistic cockpit, finely executed surface details and precision-formed parts characteristic of the Me 163B version. Thanks to the large scale, even the finest details stand out, making this model an ideal addition to a collection focused on experimental and special WWII aircraft.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
