1/32 TBF-1C Avenger
1/32 TBF-1C Avenger Trumpeter no. 0233
The Grumman TBF-1 Avenger is an American, single-engine, medium-wing bomber-torpedo aircraft with a metal structure from the Second World War. The TBF Avenger was first used during the Battle of Midway (1942). Its baptism of fire can be considered successful due to the numerous hits on Japanese carriers that these aircraft scored, although its reputation is undoubtedly tarnished by the statistics of numerous losses on the part of these American dive bombers. Nevertheless, TBF-1 was given the name Avenger after the battle. Since then, the Avenger has been widely used throughout the Pacific theater of war and was undoubtedly one of the most important tools with which the Americans were victorious in the conflict. However, after the Second World War, deserving aircraft were withdrawn fairly quickly and only about a dozen of them took part in the war in Korea, and by the mid-1950s only a few remained. They managed to survive longer in the colors of other countries' air forces: Britain, New Zealand, Canada and Japan, against whom they had fought for so long. They were kept there for the longest time, until 1962.
After being discharged from military service, many aircraft were purchased by aviation museums or individual buyers - admirers of this one of the most famous bombers of the Second World War. Technical data: Length: 12.48 m, wingspan: 16.51 m, height: 4.7 m, maximum speed: 440 km/h, rate of climb: 10.5 m/s, practical ceiling: 9100 m, maximum range: 1600 km, armament: fixed - 2 M1919 machine guns cal. 7.62 mm and 3 M2 machine guns cal. 12.7 mm, hover bombs weighing 908 kg or the Mk.13 torpedo.
