The Gloster Meteor was the first British jet fighter and the Allies' first operational jet aircraft. The Meteor's development was heavily reliant on its ground-breaking turbojet engines. Developed by Sir Frank Whittle and his company, Power Jets Ltd. Development of the aircraft began in 1940. The Meteor first flew in 1943 and commenced operations on 27th July 1944 with 616 Squadron of Royal Air Force (RAF). It proved to be a successful and effective combat fighter. The Meteor F.4 was the first of the type to be exported, and they serviced in the air forces of Argentina, Denmark, Egypt, Belgium and the Netherlands. Features fine recessed panel lines, tens of thousands of accurately positioned rivets, landing gear that can be completed in the raised or lowered position, positional flaps and separately-molded ailerons. Parts come molded in gray. Kit includes metal nose weight and decals.
