Special Hobby's 1/48th scale Seafire Mk.XV Far East Service depicts a naval version of the Spitfire that was modified for service on Royal Navy aircraft carriers. The Seafire Mk.XV was the first variant of this type to be fitted with the Rolls-Royce Griffon engine, giving it higher performance and better low-level flying capabilities.
Aircraft of this version were deployed in the closing stages of World War II and then played an important role in British naval operations in South East Asia and during the post-war conflicts. The machines operated from Colossus and Victorious class carriers and participated in airspace patrol and ground troop support.
The model features a detailed cockpit, the ability to build the aircraft with folded wings, a realistically executed ejection hook and authentic armament. The precision workmanship and historical accuracy make it an ideal choice for modellers interested in British naval aviation.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
