Description

Loire - Les Avions et Hydroavions, Saint Nazaire 1923-1940

376 pages, hard cover, fomat 23 x 31 cm. For the first time, an in-depth and comprehensive study of the development and operational use of these legendary aircraft is published. The publication is in French.

For the first time, this superb book provides a complete overview of the aircraft and seaplanes produced between 1926 and 1940 at the Loire site in Normandy by the Loire-Gourdou-Leseurre - Loire-Nieuport - SNCAO consortium, which remains one of the most outstanding French aircraft manufacturers of the inter-war period, particularly in the field of seaplanes.

It contains a wealth of previously unpublished information, with rare original plans and an exceptional collection of over 400 black-and-white and colour photographs.

In this year of commemoration of the centenary of the beginnings of seaplanes in Saint-Nazaire, this memorial immersion is also an opportunity to pay tribute to the skilled workers, engineers, pilots, mechanics and directors who lived through this fascinating human and industrial saga, between "sky and sea".

The fruit of meticulous research, this publication has benefited from the active support of the "Je me Souviens" and "AIRitage" associations, as well as Airbus Atlantic Montoir-de-Bretagne and Saint-Nazaire, which perpetuate the aeronautical activity of this site steeped in history.

QR codes have been integrated into the book, enabling readers to view rare film footage of the Loire seaplanes during their sea trials.
