The North American B-25 Mitchell is an American medium bomber of the Second World War period. The B-25 was an all-metal monoplane with a three-point retractable landing gear and a twin directional tailplane. It was powered by two Wright Cyclon engines with power ranging from 1300 hp to 1850 hp, depending on the version. The prototype was flown in 1940 and series production began a year later. In the course of the war many versions of this bomber were produced, among them. The B-25G (with a 75-mm cannon in the nose), the B-25H (with a 75-mm cannon and 6 machine guns in the nose) and the B-25J (with 8 12.7-mm machine guns in the nose). The B-25 aircraft fought primarily in the Pacific and the Mediterranean. In a certain number they were given under the lend-and-lease agreement to Great Britain and to the USSR, where they made their combat debut under Stalingrad. Since 1943 the Polish No. 305 squadron flew on the B-25. The plane B-25 became famous especially by the brave bomb attack on Tokyo in April, 1942 (the famous Doolittle raid). Technical data: Maximum speed: 442 km/h, rate of climb: 4 m/s, maximum ceiling: 7600 m, maximum range: 4300 km, armament: fixed - depending on version from 4 to 12 Browning machine guns cal.12.7mm or a combination of 75 mm gun and km. suspended - up to 2700kg of bombs.
