Modern Ukrainian Ground Forces - 1:35

The modern Ukrainian Ground Forces (ZSU) were established in December 1991 from the remnants of Soviet units stationed in the former Ukrainian Soviet Republic. Their size steadily decreased until 2014 when Russian aggression in Donbas led to rapid modernization. By 2016, the ground forces numbered approximately 169,000 active soldiers. Today, the emphasis is on professionalism, equipping units with modern technology, and improving training, which has been significantly influenced by cooperation with NATO forces.
